John H. Putnam

Overview/Qualifications: John is talented at envisioning the whole picture. A life-long entrepreneur, he launched his first business with a friend after college. He worked with another start-up and then built a thriving financial services practice guiding over 10,000 conversations with professionals and business owners around their personal and business planning goals. In 2012, he launched an NCF affiliate to inspire families and businesses to have a greater impact via the latest giving strategies. John is a trained life planner, author, and professional speaker. He has been married to his wife for 32 years and has three awesome children plus a new son-in-law.

Turning point: John came to BusinessAccelerator looking for a coach. After working with several different coaches over his career, he had made the switch from the for-profit world to the nonprofit world and was looking for a new coach who understood that work. John came to BusinessAccelerator in its earliest iteration after attending Your Best Year Ever Live and felt like partnering with Michael Hyatt & Company was such a natural fit. The coach, content, and community was what he was looking for, and he found it all at BusinessAccelerator.

Double Win: John’s results since joining BusinessAccelerator are extraordinary. In five years, he went from 2 employees to 10 while experiencing incredible, consistent growth in the nonprofit space year over year. John’s business expanded from one city to 2 cities and then to 2 states. He hired his successor a couple of years after starting BusinessAccelerator and recently went through an entire succession model transitioning the entire nonprofit with a 3-year strategic plan for his successor. Doing that has given John the margin to launch a new private coaching company to help others navigate the blessings and the burdens of faith and wealth.

Why Coaching/Ideal Client: John loves helping something good become something great. As a person who has a desire for growth and impact and make the world a better place, he finds it incredibly rewarding to come along someone like that to help them achieve those dreams and objectives. John’s ideal client is an entrepreneur and visionary with a desire to make the world a better place and have impact on their community. His equation is simple—he loves working with people where 1+1=3. John believes in the power of combining two people and organizations where the result is greater than the sum of its parts.
