Ed O’Neal

Overview/Qualifications: Ed O’Neal is a leader, facilitator, and coach with experience in military, corporate, and volunteer organizations. He retired as Vice President of Leadership Development for a subsidiary of Caterpillar, where he trained and coached leaders worldwide. Ed is a Certified Executive & Team Coach, Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, DISC Coach and has led numerous leadership and personal productivity programs. He and his wife of over 37 years have 4 adult children and 5 grandchildren.

Turning point: Ed’s primary pain point was juggling far too many responsibilities in a senior corporate role, to the point that he wasn’t performing any of them well. His family was also suffering because of the stress he was experiencing. Ed was one of the very first BusinessAccelerator clients and began working on achieving balance in his life.

Double Win: Since joining BusinessAccelerator, Ed was able to make a significant career change; some people call it retirement, but he calls it “change of venue,” “repurposing,” or what Ken Blanchard calls “Refire! Don’t Retire.” This has opened up all kinds of possibilities for Ed to pursue his passions in business, community service, and family. He is going after his Double Win of building a successful global leadership development team while also regaining his health and strengthening his personal relationships. Ed is now doing things because he wants to, not because he has to. He is a passionate leader in youth programs, community service, education, and his church. He enjoys hiking, backpacking, and occasionally flying a helicopter.

Why Coaching/Ideal Client: Ed wanted to be a coach because he loves the idea and practice of servant leadership. He sees coaching as an opportunity to serve others by investing in their lives. It gives Ed great joy not to tell people what to do, which is a common leadership paradigm, but to walk alongside them as they discover their own best paths.
